Women who had undergone radiation therapy for breast cancer, has risk of heart disease 20 years later or more than women who never underwent this therapy.
The results of this study along with results of other studies that concluded that radiation done too close to the heart resulting in increased risk of heart problems and blood vessels in the future.
But this research is still too early for a foothold, still need more research to support this research. “The problem of radiation is an important part of therapy for many women. Therefore we must honestly look at the various risks and consider when making treatment decisions,” said Dr. Ronald Witteles cardiologists from Stanford University.
